The 2018 Subaru Love Promise Customer Commitment Award

What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

Love Promise Stories from Day Apollo Subaru

Red Cross Blood Drive  –  Rachel B

Red Cross Blood Drive

We worked alongside the Red Cross to hold a Blood Drive at our dealership. With all the hurricanes and other issues, our country is facing there is a shortage of needed donors and the blood supply is running low. We had the pleasure of working with Rachel Bennett from the Red Cross in setting up this event which turned out to be a huge success. I spoke with the nurses on the coach and they stated to me that the response we received and the number of donors that came out was a surprise to them. We had 40 registered people to donate and the nurses were having a hard time keeping up with the people. To make the event even more fun we asked the help of the Girl Scouts to help pass out gift cards to people that donated. We were very clear to our staff and to the customers that came for the event that the purpose of this was to help with our community. It was not a sales event. We want to make this an annual event and the representatives at the Red Cross are excited to come back.

Day Apollo Delivers Hope to Kids With Cancer  –  Breanna S

Day Apollo Delivers Hope to Kids With Cancer

Day Apollo Subaru swooped into Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh on July 13th to save the day. Partnering with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the dealership provided a surprise for the young patients bravely battling cancer. Brandon Denk from Day Apollo not only brought brand-new tote bags, arts, and crafts kits, and blankets for Children’s patients, but also took the time to deliver these gifts one-on-one and spent time getting to know the cancer-fighting kids. One of the little boys he sat down with had a superhero shirt on, and the two started talking about their favorite superheroes. The patient loves Captain America and thinks it’s cool that Captain America can use his shield to protect himself and throw it at bad guys to keep them away. Brandon told the little boy that his treatment is like Captain America’s shield: it’s a weapon against the bad cancer cells but keeps the rest of him safe. “You’re a superhero, too,” said Brandon as the little boy beamed and hugged his new blanket to his chest. LLS is so grateful to Day Apollo Subaru, Subaru of America, and their customers for making this inspirational (and fun!) day possible not only for this little boy but also for the dozens of other patients who will benefit from the generosity of this gift. This day was a reminder that families who are fighting cancer are never truly alone when they have the support of others around them. Thank you, Day Apollo Subaru, for using your powers for good and caring for your community.

Day Apollo Subaru & Make-A-Wish Foundation  –  Walter W

Day Apollo Subaru & Make-A-Wish Foundation

This year, Day Apollo Subaru has selected the Greater Pennsylvania & West Virginia as their Share the Love Hometown charity for 2018. I could not be happier with that choice, because I am an employee at Day Apollo Subaru, and have had a personal experience with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Our son Brent M. Winschell was diagnosed with Down Syndrome with a wide range of developmental delays and physical disabilities caused by a genetic disorder also known as chromosome 21. This condition cannot be cured. He was on a heart monitor and oxygen tank for the first six months of his life. He was in the hospital for two weeks and then was transferred to TIC (Transitional Infant Care) in Oakland, PA where he stayed another month before we could bring him home. Brent still has health issues to this day but with medications, Doctor visits and most of them are manageable. When Brent was seven years old we applied to Make-A-Wish Foundation for Brent to become a possible candidate for their program. Our request was granted, and Brent became a Make-A-Wish child. At seven years old and with his problems with oral communications, my wife Linda and I thought Brent would love Disney World because he loves theme parks, the characters, rides and the food. Make-A-Wish granted our family’s wish on Brent’s behalf to Disney World. We stayed at “Give Kids the World” its own gated community in our own single-family home. Every morning there was a gift left at the front door for all our kids. They also had the mayor (also a character) that upon request would come every and any evening to read Brent a bed time story. There were so many rides, games, a restaurant, a couple of pools and an Ice cream parlor within the community of Give Kids the World. We could have stayed there every day and Brent would have loved it. Of course, we then go to Disney World and once again the red carpet was rolled out. We all were wearing t-shirts that said Make-A-Wish on it and a badge “Give Kids the World”. The employees at Disney are trained to give Brent and our family all the attention that anyone could ever ask for. The sincere service and kindness was truly remarkable. Make-A-Wish is an unbelievable charity organization with such a wonderful cause that truly changes the life of the child and family. We are so thankful and appreciative for the kindness of people that contribute to such a great cause, and happy that Day Apollo Subaru is partnering with them to help more people in our area.

Day Apollo Subaru raised over $11,000 for their local charity, ANIMAL FRIENDS of PITTSBURGH during the 2017 Share The Love Event! This money goes a long way to get pets adopted and provide shelter & food to pets in need!
